US Department of the Interior (DOI) Service Learning Toolkit

ICP and the Department of the Interior have joined forces to use place-based service learning as a way to instill an appreciation and sense of stewardship for America’s public lands among America’s youth. The purpose of this tool-kit is to provide information and resources on using service learning as an effective strategy of getting young people involved and developing their knowledge of issues that affect America’s public lands..

The Engaged University International Perspectives on Civic Engagement

ICP Executive Director, Susan Stroud co-authored this book with David Watson, Principal of Green Templeton College in Oxford, UK and Rob Hollister, Dean of the Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service at Tufts University.

Youth Activism and Public Space in Egypt

This report explores the ways young people in Egypt are engaging in public spaces with a focus on physical civic engagement activities/organizations, virtual demonstration forums and social media, and expressive artwork. All of these public spaces are interwoven spheres for collective action in which young people are leading and participating in civic movements to address community issues important to them.

Transforming Communities Through Service

Since 2005, Innovations in Civic Participation (ICP) and America’s Service Commission (ASC) have collaborated in highlighting the most innovative AmeriCorps programs in the United States. Nominated by State Commissions, these programs have moved the needle in volunteer service and made deep impacts in their communities through education, mentoring, public safety, health, the environment, and other issue areas.
Making Youth Work Visible

This report co-written with Pravah draws on findings during a two-day consultation held in India. It details methods for developing frameworks for evaluating youth programs.
