Dame Hoodless Awarded Alec Dickson Servant Leader Award
Dame Elisabeth
Hoodless, Chairman of the IANYS Global Council
and member of the Innovations in Civic
Participation Board of Directors,
was awarded the Alec Dickson Servant Leader
Award at the 20th Annual
National Service-Learning Conference which was
held on March 18-21 in
Nashville, Tennessee. The award
recognizes individuals who lead by example, and
through their initiative,
inspire and help others to grow and become more
capable of service.
Hoodless' work as
the Executive Director of
Community Service Volunteers, the leading
volunteer and training agency in the
United Kingdom, has had tremendous impact on
the lives of many youth, making it
possible for them to make a difference in their
own communities in areas such
as literacy and environmental
conservation.
Alec Dickson, the
benefactor of the Servant Leader Award,
founded
Community Service Volunteers, as well as
Voluntary Service Overseas, and
inspired similar leadership around the world.
Hoodless' dedication to her work and her
commitment to youth service sets an inspiring
example for others to become more engaged in
service.
