About the Conference
THANK YOU! The IANYS 8th Global Conference on National Youth Service saw over 120 participants from 43 different countries at the Fondation des Etats-Unis, Cit� Universaire in Paris, France. Not only were established national youth service programs from around the world represented, but policy makers, researchers, government officials and NGOs interested in engaging youth in their communities also presented and shared ideas about National Youth Service, including Kumi Naidoo, Secretary-General of CIVICUS, and President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia, each of whom delivered inspiring keynote addresses.
About the Conference:
The 8th Global Conference on National Youth Service took place the 19-22 of November 2008 at the Fondation Des Etats-Unis in Paris, France. The conference was hosted by IANYS secretariat, Innovations in Civic Participation (ICP), in partnership with Unis-Cite and the Association of Voluntary Service Organizations (AVSO). The conference included IANYS members and other professionals in the field of youth civic engagement from across
The Conference took place over the course of 4 days and included an optional pre-conference session on policy and program development on the first day. Workshops focused on examining current national youth service policies and programs, identifying best practices and lessons learned, and developing strategies for promoting and implementing more effective national youth service policies and scaling up existing programs for greater impact.
