Small Grants Initiative

In 2004 ICP selected 11 organizations to receive small grants to develop and advocate policies that promote service among young people in their communities.

The grant recipients, located in
Argentina, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Brazil, Ghana, Panama, Peru, Romania, Russia, and Uruguay, were awarded grants ranging from $5,000 - $15,000, and totaling more than $120,000.

In ten countries, major steps towards the adoption of youth service policies with potential to engage millions of young people. With the support provided by ICP through the small grants program, a national youth service policy was introduced by the Youth Minister of Panama.  Governments in four countries – Peru, Belarus, Brazil, and Romania – were presented draft youth service policy documents by grantee organizations.  In other countries, ICP grants were used to advance the movement toward youth service policy through conferences, workshops, and capacity building efforts at the local and national level. ICP continues to provide technical assistance to these programs, which have since the end of the funding cycle become valuable members of the ICP network.  ICP is currently seeking partners to continue and expand its small grants program.
