Stroud,
Executive Director
Susan
is the founder and Executive Director of
Innovations in Civic
Participation. One of the White House architects of the National
and
Community Trust Act of 1993, she served in
senior positions at the
Corporation for National and Community Service to implement
AmeriCorps
and Learn and Serve America. Previously, she was the founding director
of Campus Compact, a national coalition of university presidents, and
the
Jean Manney,
Program Associate
As ICP's
Program Associate, Jean works with the
Executive Director to manage national and
international projects as well as aspects of
organizational development and
communications. Specifically, Jean
manages projects relating to the International
Association for National Youth Service (IANYS),
Summer of Service and fundraising for
ICP. Previously,
Jean completed the International Partnership
for Service-Learning's
graduate program and received her M.A. in
International Service from
Roehampton University in London, England.
Through the program, she
studied at the Universidad Autonoma de
Guadalajara, volunteered with a
youth empowerment organization in Guadalajara,
Mexico and interned with
Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) in London,
where she conducted
research for her Master's dissertation on
global citizenship and
innovations in volunteering. Jean served
for two years as an
AmeriCorps*VISTA with Massachusetts Campus
Compact, through which she
developed campus-community partnerships and
facilitated
service-learning placements at Simmons College
in Boston, MA. She also
coordinated the community-based learning credit
program at Georgetown
University's Center for Social Justice.
Her B.A. is in International
Relations and Spanish from Tufts
University. Jean is a third-generation
national youth service participant.
Colleen
Hammelman, Program
Associate
As ICP's Program Associate, Colleen works with the Executive Director to manage national and international projects as well as aspects of organizational development and communications. Specifically, Colleen manages projects relating to capacity building in South Asia and the Middle East and North Africa, youth service and environmental sustainability, developing pathways to teaching careers for AmeriCorps members, measuring the impact of youth civic engagement and ICP communications. Before joining ICP, Colleen served as an advocacy associate at the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights where she oversaw the annual Human Rights Award and assisted with project implementation in support of the RFK Human Rights Award Laureates. Previously, Colleen also conducted research on international human rights for the Institute for Strategic and International Studies - Malaysia. Colleen completed her MA in International Affairs at American University and her BA in Technical Journalism and Political Science at Colorado State University. She has language skills in Arabic, Spanish and Hindi.
Kelly
Fox,
Development
Associate
After serving as the
ICP Office Manager for a couple years, Kelly
now focuses on development and fundraising
activites, as well as assisting with some
communications work such as the newsletter and
website maintenance. Kelly comes to ICP after a
semester studying Spanish in
Argentina and Chile through Escuelas y Centros
En Latinamerica. Previously, she
was Biology Coordinator for the Division of
Biology and Medicine at
Elizabeth
Babcock, Talloires Network
Coordinator
As the Talloires Network Coordinator, Elizabeth supports member universities and the governing body of the network through regular outreach, information-sharing and strategic planning. Elizabeth also maintains the Talloires website and works on expanding and strengthening network initiatives for member universities. Previously, she was the Executive Director of the Civic Knowledge Project at the University of Chicago, working to increase quality educational and cultural programming and knowledge exchange between the university and its neighboring communities. In this position, she worked on a MacArthur funded mapping project of community cultural organizations, leading to the creation of a new university-based support network for these organizations. Elizabeth holds an M.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of Chicago and a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Florida. She has traveled extensively in Mexico, Peru, Chile, Argentina and England.
John
Pollock, Talloires Network Program
Assistant
John assists
in communications, research, writing, and
other projects for the Talloires Network.
He is a recent graduate from the
University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in
Political Science and Arabic. John's
coursework focused on international relations
and Middle East political issues,
and his senior thesis explored the development
of Hamas' political platform
prior to its victory in the 2006 Palestinian
Legislative Council
elections. John has
interned with two
refugee resettlement agencies as well as the
Middle East Institute, and he
studied abroad in Jordan in the summer of
2007.
His main interests include international relations, the growth
of civil
society in developing countries, and
political/social developments in the
Middle East.Marlin Payne,
Summer of Service Fellow
As ICP's Summer of Service
Fellow, Marlin assists the Program Associate in
managing the Summer of Summer
Initiative. Specifically, Marlin oversees the
Summer
of Service Online Resource
Center and assists in research,
communications, fundraising, and overall
project support. He is a recent graduate of
Saint Vincent College
with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in
Communication. Since
2005, Marlin has worked with a local youth
serving organization in his native
Newark, NJ connecting underserved students with
the resources they need to stay
in school and graduate from high school. In
2008, Marlin interned in the Office
of Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (WI-02) as the
James G. Fulton and J. Steele Gow
Fellow at the Les Aspin Center in Washington,
DC. That same year he traveled to
Rome as an academic scholar, volunteered with
the Missionaries of Charity in
Calcutta, India, and traveled to Kenya to
examine the relationship between
governments, NGOs and funding agencies.
