International Association for National Youth Service

IANYS is a global network of professionals working to promote youth service around the world. The Association was formed in 1996 at the 3rd global conference on national youth service. Since its inception, IANYS has grown to include members from 48 different countries on six continents. Click here to learn more about the IANYS activities.

Dame Elisabeth Hoodless Awarded the Alec Dickson Servant Leader Award

Hoodless, Executive Director of Community Service Volunteers, Chairman of IANYS,  and Member of ICP's Board of Directors, was recognized for her leadership in helping and inspiring others to serve.

Planning for the 2010 IANYS Global Conference


As the secretariat of IANYS, ICP is in the process of selecting a partner organization to co-host  the 9th Global Conference on National Youth Service in 2010.  Thank you to everyone who submitted a letter of interest to host the Conference. 

IANYS is in the process of reviewing proposals, and we look forward to posting more good news soon.

Draws on the experiences of Chile's Servicio Pais, China's Poverty Alleviation Relay Project, Costa Rica's Trabajo Comunal Universitario, Germany's Zivildienst and Volunteer Social Year, India's National Service Scheme, Israel's Sherut Leumi, Mexico's Servicio Social, Pakistan's National Youth Service, the UK's Community Service Volunteers, the USA's Civilian Conservation Corps, Peace Corps, and AmeriCorps, and similar schemes in 22 other countries.
